Gameday Thursday: The Money Hat

For this game you will need some silly hats, some money (paper bills), and a bell.  In our example, we’ll run this contest 3 times, but how many times during the day is, obviously, up to you.

Take 3 hats (preferably silly hats or novelty hats from a party store) and tape money to them.  Predetermine 3 times during the day, write them down but keep it hidden.  The first collector to take a payment gets to wear a hat.  The next collector to take a payment takes the hat from them and wears it until another collector takes a payment and the hat switches again.  When the first predetermined time arrives, ring the bell and the collector with the hat gets to keep the money (and the hat if you like).  Repeat for the additional hats and times.

Enjoy!  If you try it, or have tried it before, please share your experience in the comments.

Gameday Thursday: Pass the Buck

Take a $20 bill, and give it to the first person to take a qualifying payment and write that amount up on the board.  If someone else takes a payment larger than that one, they get to take the bill.  So, the person who takes the largest payment that day ends up with the bill.

Of course, this works best if the competitors are all collecting the same kind of debt that day.  Adjust the amount of the bill to suit your needs.

Enjoy!  If you try it, or have tried it before, please share your experience in the comments.

Gameday Thursday: Shipbattle

Shipbattle is a fun game that lets two teams compete against each other for a short time as one team tries to eliminate the other team’s navy.

Create two grids, each on a team’s whiteboard.  The grid should be ten squares on a side.  Label one axis A-J and the other axis 1-10.

Each team’s supervisor should have a paper with a matching grid.  On their paper grid, they should place their team’s ships.  Each team should place the following ships on their grid (no diagonal ship placements are allowed):

  • One 2-length ship
  • Two 3-length ships
  • One 4-length ship
  • One 5-length ship

When a collector takes a qualifying payment, they can call out a coordinate on the other team’s grid (A-7, or B-2, like that).  The supervisor of the team receiving the attack determines if that coordinate is a hit or a miss, walks up to the whiteboard, and marks an X on the grid if it’s a hit, and an O if it’s a miss.

I’ve created a PDF of the paper grid for your convenience.

Gameday Thursday – Balloon Hoarder

balloons

Put 7 (or so) helium balloons in a central place on the collection floor.  Whenever a collector takes a qualifying payment they can take a balloon from the central location.  Once all the balloons are taken, they can take them from each other.  The person with the most balloons at the end of time frame wins.
